Is the Talisman Magnetically Shielded?
No. You will need approx. 18-20" from the side of a direct view
television set. Not as much of a problem with RPTVs because they tube are
usually deep in the cabinet. If you need to be closer to a CRT check with us as
we can do a special shielded version for . . . $

What amps or rec are recommended ... ?
 | Too numerous to list. The Talisman is an easy load for any amplifier or receiver. |

The Talisman is compatible with lower powered tube-amps. Dynamics will of course be limited with lower power. A number of customers have reported very good results with small to mid-powered tube and solid state integrated amps. We tend to favor higher-powered tubes or solid-state of 80-100 watts or better per channel for the best performance.

Does Talisman use 1st order crossover? ... ?
No, the Talisman is not a first order design. In a 1st order design, speaker height and listening
height are critical. This is true of all of this type of design like the older
Sapphires, Vandersteen, Thiel, etc.
We feel that advanced higher-order networks such as found in the Talisman,
yield the best balance of transparency, detail, smoothness, low distortion and
dynamics. Some people believe that only 1st order speakers "sound the best".
After 26 years of very serious listening and testing, we disagree. Higher order
networks are more complicated and it takes greater effort and cost to get them
right. But you are worth it:)

Trying to decide between Talisman and Jaguar/LFM. . .
If you have the room and the budget, go for the Jaguar/LFM. It is our "statement". However the Talisman offers a very similar level of performance for substantially less money. The additional cost and dual woofers of the Jag/LFM also buys you more authority in the bass range.
